Christian Church is a worshipping community
under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Music is a strong medium
in worship and an effective channel in Christian missionary
work.
Music has a major role in the Marthoma church
worship. Traditionally, the chants have made our liturgy musical
and beautiful. Marthoma church is very keen about having quality
choirs in every parish and The Department of Sacred Music
& Communications is entrusted with the task of helping
parishes to have good choirs.
Ahmadi Mar Thoma Parish Choir was formed in
1984. The choir has been assisting the worship services of
the parish. After Kuwait was liberated from the Iraqi invasion,
the choir restarted in November 1993. Rev. Rajan George, then
vicar of our parish gave bold leadership in reorganizing the
choir. Since then the choir has been involved in the task
of making our worship services more melodious by using our
God-given talents. The choir has been playing a vital role
in conducting the Christmas Carol services of our parish.
M/s.K.M.Mathew, Saju Thomas & Gijo Jacob had served as
Choir Masters since 1993. Mr.Johnykutty P .Joseph is now leading
the choir as Choir Master.
Our choir has been affiliated with the Department of Sacred
Music & Communications (DSMC) of the Marthoma Church since
2002. Every year, new members are inducted to the choir after
the voice test. At present we have 34 members in our choir.
We remember Aby (Abraham George) and Nimmy (Nimmy Varghese)
who have been called to The Eternal Home. Both of them were
active members of our choir and we thank God for them. Choir
practices are conducted on every Thursday evening. Apart from
leading the regular worship services, the choir assists all
the activities of the parish such as Parish Day, Harvest Festival,
Christmas Carol service etc. Our choir takes part in the Christmas
Carol services conducted by ICC- Ahmadi and Youth Chorus-
Abbassiya as well as the United Christmas Carol service at
the National Evangelical Church, Kuwait(NECK)
