The Mar Thoma Suvisesha Sevika Sanghom the women's wing,
was inaugurated during the Maramon Convention in the year
1919, under the leadership of Abraham Mar Thoma Suffragan
Metropolitan, who gave the Sanghom continued support and inspiration.
Since its foundation Mar Thoma Suvisesha Sevika Sanghom has
been continuing with its laudable services for the past 84
years. Every women of the Mar Thoma Church above the age of
18 years is a member of the Sevika sanghom. The organization
owes much to the self sacrificing and indefatigable work of
Mrs. Kandamma Varghese as organizing Secretary for over 20
years traveling far and wide, organizing branches in parishes,
doing evangelistic work among Christians and non-Christians.
Ahmadi Mar Thoma Suvisesha Sevika Sanghom came into active
existence during 1994 under the tenure of Rev. Rajan George.
Main Activities includes:
1. Regular meeting every Tuesday at 10.00am in the Parsonage
or homes of the members.
2. Visiting the Sick & bereaved.
3. Conducting competitions among members in Singing, Bible
reading, Bible Quiz, and Elocution.
4. Active participation in various functions of the Church
like Harvest Festival
.5. Quarterly meetings in association with the Kuwait-Ahmadi
center Sevika Sanghom.
Ahmadi Mar Thoma Suvisesha Sevika Sanghom under takes charitable
works like Medical aid, Marriage aid etc., During 1998, the
Sanghom undertook the donation of 26 sewing machines as a
special project to financially weak and eligible candidates.
At present a committed donation is given every year to Kottarakara
hospice and sponsoring the complete expense of one student
of Girideepti center at Trikkakkara, Cochin. The main sources
of funds are ofertories, annual Breakfast sale, and edavaka
grant.
